Friendship Short Films

On today’s episode of the All Sorts of Shorts podcast we looked at short films around the theme of friendship.

And so for this episode we were joined by long time friend and film director Alistair White. Alistair is good friends with all three of us as we all meet each other at university as part of the film production society. We’ve all worked on many projects with each other, and so we reminisced about our time at Lancaster University together.

The films we looked at were:

Teen Andrea uses a male stripper to gain the respect and admiration of cool girl Daphne. Hot Seat, which is based on a true story, explores coming-of-age sexuality and the complexities of relationships between teen girls.

A woman secretly starts taking skateboarding lessons from a handsome teenager to avoid dealing with the problems in her marriage. Bickford Park’s a compelling, heartfelt, and funny look at a marriage in need of spark.

The Climb is currently unavailable online, but hopefully they’ll put it back on Vimeo in the near future and you’ll be able to give it a watch. In the meantime you can watch a clip from the feature film version of the short.

Kyle is depressed, and a weekend bike ride with his best friend, Mike, should help. Fresh air. Camaraderie. Exercise. But Mike has something to say that might ruin the ride.

Next episode will be out on Monday 9th Dec with the theme of ‘race’. The films for that episode will be:

Video (2016) – Randy Yang
Night (2017) – Joosje Duk
Skin (2018) – Guy Nattiv
